In a literal sense, Chitwan means ‘heart of the jungle,’ and a trek to Chitwan Chepang is a short and
undemanding way to have some fascinating adventure and get in touch with the ethnic Chepangs
inhabiting there. Chitwan Chepang hill trail is a combination of cultural and sightseeing experiences,
taking you through some unexplored areas of Chitwan and helping you get to know the hospitable
Chepang people and their lifestyle and culture.

This trekking expedition usually starts with a four hour drive from Kathmandu to Hudi Khola and takes
you along a beautiful path with pristine ethnic villages residing along, and the picturesque terrace
farming. The sight of Rolwaling, Gauri Shankar, Langtang, Manaslu and the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
ranges cannot be missed as well. Trekking to Chitwan Chepang is one of the most unchallenging treks
you can find as it does not require any trekking experience and can be done any time of the year with your
entire family.

One of the major attractions of this trek is the unbeatable, sublime view of the sun rising beautifully from
Sira Chuli. You will also get a chance to visit Chitwan National Park, one of Asia’s finest, known for the
dense tropical forest and a wide range of wildlife. This park is home to more than 150 species of
butterflies, 126 species of fish, 526 species of birds, 600 species of plants, one horned rhinos, red rhesus
monkeys, deer, wild dogs, Bengal tigers, Gangetic dolphins and Gharial crocodile. Chitwan Chepang hill
expedition is thus a magical combination of cultural experience among the Chepang, and an adventurous
wilderness experience among the tropical forest of Chitwan National Park.
