Prince of Bahrain to arrive in Nepal for Peak Climbing

Mountaineering activity to begin in Nepal as the news of Prince of Bahrain to arrive in Nepal for Peak Climbing. Amid the ongoing Lockdown, the government of Nepal has decided to allow 18 climbers including the prince of Bahrain to enter Nepal for mountaineering purposes.

The decision is made by a cabinet meeting held on 31 August 2020. The cabinet sends a recommendation of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) along with the decision. The mountaineering team includes the 15 people from Bahrain including the prince of Bahrain. The team includes the other three from the United Kingdom. They are scheduled to will come to Nepal on charter flights after September 15.

The climbing team plans to attempt to scale Mt Manaslu and Mt Lobuche. The cabinet decision states, the team should follow the safety measures prepared by the health ministry upon their arrival in Nepal.

The government of Nepal resumed the mountaineering activities from July after an interruption of nearly five months due to COVID-19. The announcement made in July opened the peaks across the country for climbers.

As per the ministry source, it is preparing a quarantine modality for tourists arriving in Nepal. The proposed quarantine modality will make tourists stay mandatorily in hotel quarantine for a week. They will head to their trekking/climbing destination after undergoing PCR tests.

Nepal has paused all its mountaineering activities since March 2020 following the countrywide lockdown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It hard hit the tourism industry of Nepal, resulting in the massive unemployment of workers. The pandemic effect is assumed to last till the Spring of 2021. But the mountaineering permission for the high-level visitor brings new energy and a positive vibe to the tourism business of Nepal.
