Ama Dablam Expedition, the most attractive and stunning climbing of the Everest Region after Mt. Everest. It is always so captive and scenic that every trekker visiting the region loves to feature it. This is the most popular Mt. Mountain among 6000m peaks expedition in Nepal. This mountain lies alongside the Everest in the heart of Khumbu valley. It offers a close-up view of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Everest. Although popular, this is a very technically demanding mountain for climbing in Nepal. This mountain is further popular as the ornaments of the Himalayas in Nepal.
The elevation of this expedition is 6814m. However, this requires steep ice, rock and snow climbing. There are three camps set in Ama Dablam while climbing above 4570m however; only two camps are used for night stay.
Since the expedition itself is very technical, the climbers should have a good skill on rock and ice climbing and must be technically competent. There will have a fixed rope on most parts of the routes however; the climbers should have the skills of climbing through steep rock as well as hard compact ice. During the Ama Dablam expedition, we follow the normal route (southwest ridge route) to get its top. Because the route is comparatively safer than others since it is considered to be safe as this route has less fear of avalanche as so on.
This expedition route begins from Lukla (2850m) and the beginning trek passes through the Sherpa community of Khumbu. During the climbing, most of the route is fixed with no icefall or glacier. We follow the southwestern routes for the expedition since the route was considered to be comparatively easier after the climbers successfully reached the top of the Mountain for the first time in 1961.
The actual expedition begins from Ama Dablam base camp. The climbing period is mostly 10 days for the grueling climb to the summit of Ama Dablam. The climb is moderate from base camp to camp 1 then it becomes challenging while you ascend up from camp 1 through narrow granite ridge. The route gets more technical from camp 2. From camp 3, skirt around the hanging glacier and cross a sharp ridge between the ice cliffs and get the summit. After the successful summit, we will return back through the same route.
The best time for the Ama Dablam expedition is between Spring (April to June) and Autumn (September to November). During these times, there will have less difficulty for the climbers compare to the other seasons. Both seasons offer favorable weather and temperature hence would be the best time for climbing expedition. There will have a warmer temperature in the lower areas but it may be cold in higher elevation during autumn and spring.
There are different options for the meals and the meal option includes typical Nepalese food to International Cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Indian, etc.) even during the trek. The Hotel, lodges, and guesthouse will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to their menus. However, during the expedition, you will get food in the camp by the expedition team.
You will be staying in the 3-star hotel in Kathmandu. During the trek, you have to stay in a lodge or available guest house until the base camp. A solo traveler needs to share the room with the same-gender traveler. If you need a single supplement, you will have to pay an additional cost based on the total days of the trek and expedition. Most of the accommodation contains attached bathrooms while some of the teahouses may not have attached bathrooms. In that case, you have to share the washing and toilet facilities. There is also a chance for not getting a single room in the higher elevations. During the expedition, the accommodation will be on the camp from Pengboche onwards with basic facilities.
