Gosaikunda Laurebina Pass trek is the best way to visit this holy lake including the highest pass of the area and other lakes. Religious Significance

Every year, thousands of pilgrims including Shamans from surrounding districts visit the lake area to mark the festival of Janai Purnima. The major festival of Janai Purnima occurs in August. Since it is a sacred lake, people believe that taking a dip into the holy water of the lake washes off their sins.  Despite the remoteness, a huge number of Hindus and Buddhist pilgrims visit the region every year. Besides this, the region is among the top choice of trekkers due to its unique sceneries. Due to its popularity,  most of the trekkers inquire about it as Gosainkunda Trek.

Gosaikunda Laurebina Pass trek passes through the varied landscapes. Likewise, the green forest of the area ranges from subtropical to the alpine environment. The trekkers here love the route due to several terraced fields, waterfalls, streams, hills, and super scenic mountain views.

The Gosaikunda Laurebina Pass La trek extends with the drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche (1,960m). The trekking trail follows historic Sing Gompa on the way to reach the magical Gosaikunda. Weather

Generally, the weather in the Gosaikunda area is unpredictable and keeps on changing several times a day. The air is humid and cold.  Still, with the tantalizing sun shining above you, the chilled air makes you feel cold. You should carry warm clothes, hiking boots, sunglasses, walking sticks, gloves, raincoats, medicines, reusable water bottles, and light snacks.

Required Permits for Gosaikunda Laurebina Pass Trek

Trekking in the Gosainkunda area requires two types of permits. You can get issued a National park entry permit at the checking counter of Langtang National Park located just a few hundred meters before Dhunche. The permit costs US$30 and a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card from Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) in Kathmandu.

    Gosaikunda Laurebina Pass Trek - Detail Itinerary

    Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,428ft)

    Arrive at the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu.  We will have an introduction session for your guide and trekking crew. Next, work on the final preparation for the hike and receive a pre-departure briefing from your local team leader. Overnight stay at the hotel

    Day 02: Kathmandu to Dhunche (1,960m) – 7 hrs

    Pick up from the hotel at 6:30 a.m. The Kerung Deluxe bus leaves Balaju at 7:30 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be had on the drive to Trisuli. Dhunche Lodge is where you’ll spend the night.

    Day 03: Dhunche to Sing Gompa (3,3335m) – 4 to 5 hours trek

    Dhunche is the starting point for the trek. Trek uphill through bamboo and oak woodland, passing via the villages of Deurali and Dimsa on your way to Sing Gompa. Sing Gompa features a well-known monastery and is regarded as a sacred shrine. The Langtang Himalayan mountains may be seen from the trail. Sing Gompa Lodge is where you will spend the night.

    Day 04: Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (4380m) – 5/6 hrs trek

    You’ll pass via Chandanbari (3,330m) and Cholangpati (3,654m) today on your way to Laurebina (3,910m). The cheese factory in Chandanbari is well-known to explore. To get to Gosaikunda, you should trek for 2 hours up a steep hill from Lauribina (4,380m). After crossing through a small settlement called Phedi, the route gradually descends into the village of Ghopte. Ghopte is where you’ll spend the night.

    Day 06: Ghopte to Kutumsang (2,470m) – 5/6 hours

    Today you will spend the entire day on the downhill trail. Mangengoth is a scattered human habitation along the road. The route takes you through a gorgeous green forest. At Thadepati, the route separates to head to two separate destinations: Kutumsang and Helambu. On the eastern side of Tharepati is the famed Helambu hiking trail. Kutumsang is where you’ll spend the night.

    Day 07: Kutumsang to Chisapani (2,215m) – 4/5 hours walk

    You will get a vehicle at Kutumsang that will take you to Kathmandu. It is 4-5 hours drive to Kathmandu.

    Day 10: Departure to your next destination.

    This is the time for saying goodbye from Nepal until the next trip. You will depart to your destination after this wonderful trekking experience. Oriental Journeys will drop off you at the airport from the hotel and waiting to meet you soon on your next Nepal Trip.

    The tea house lodges of the trekking trail have warm dining with heating system. The lodges own their restaurant attached to the lodge buildings.  They provide delicious foods, mostly vegetarian such as Nepali meal sets, momo and noodles, including western foods like Pasta, tuna bakeries, and potatoes, eggs, Dal Bhat, bread, soups, fresh seasonal vegetables. Traveler has to eat dinner and breakfast in the same lodge. However, there will be lunch pause during your trek in the afternoon before the evening camp.

    The ATM machines are available only in the big cities. You cannot use it during your trek in the village and remote areas. You should carry Nepalese currencies for your necessary expenses. Nepalese Currency is available in paper notes of NPR 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000.

    We provide porter(s) to carry your luggage. The ratio of porter is 2:1 ration i.e one porter for two trekkers. Our porters will carry a maximum of 20 kilos of weight.

    How long do we need to walk in a day?

    The distance that you have to walk for a day depending on your itinerary, generally, varies every day. The walking/trekking distance varies on the basis of available teahouse lodges, gradient, terrain and altitude. Despite the change in the distance you walk each day, you have to walk roughly about 5 hours each day on average.

    Should I carry walking poles for Gosainkunda - Lauribina La Pass trekking?

    Your preparedness and physical condition determine the supporting tools/equipment you should carry. However walking poles are always helpful while walking in the altitude and downhill. But walking poles are not mandatory.

    Do you help us to carry our luggage on Gosainkunda - Lauribina La Pass trekking?

    We provide porter(s) to carry your luggage. The ratio of porter is 2:1 ration i.e one porter for two trekkers. Our porters will carry a maximum of 20 kilos of weight.

    How long do we need to walk in a day?

    The distance that you have to walk for a day depending on your itinerary, generally, varies every day. The walking/trekking distance varies on the basis of available teahouse lodges, gradient, terrain and altitude. Despite the change in the distance you walk each day, you have to walk roughly about 5 hours each day on average.

    Should I carry walking poles for Gosainkunda - Lauribina La Pass trekking?

    Your preparedness and physical condition determine the supporting tools/equipment you should carry. However walking poles are always helpful while walking in the altitude and downhill. But walking poles are not mandatory.

    Should I make additional money while going on the trek? If yes, How much?

    You should carry some additional money while going on a trek. We highly recommend that you take Nepalese currencies because foreign currencies are not easily convertible in remote areas. Based on your spending habits you can allocate equivalent Nepalese rupees of US$10-US$15 per day to buy extra drinks, water bottles, etc. while you are on trek

    There is no fixed departure trip for this month. You can request for a private group trip.
