Rara Lake short trek is the most beautiful and the largest lake in Nepal Himalaya. The area of Rara Lake covers 10.8 sq km at an altitude of 2990 meters. It is the wish list of many internal tourists. However, few foreign tourist trekkers venture it due to its remoteness.
The main attraction of the trek includes a beautiful lakes periphery surrounded by the dense pine forest at the top of the valley. The lake is rather famous as the “Queen of Lakes”. During the sunny day, the blue sky over the lake and the reflection of Mt. Saipal further add beauty to the glory of Rara Lake.
The most attractive part of the Rara Lake Short trek is hiking within the protected area of Rara National Park. The smallest national park in the country, Rara protects the lake at its heart. The national park falls at an altitude ranges from 1800m to 4048 m of pristine forest, black juniper, Himalayan spruce oak, and other related species. The park is the ideal habitat for musk deer and other wildlife including Himalayan black bear, leopard, goral, Himalayan Thar, and wild boar. Snow trout is the only species of fish found in the deep serene of Rara lake.
The exotic and wonderful journey starting with a scenic flight toward the tropic at Nepalgunj city. After this, another exotic flight to Talca airport of Mugu takes you to the Rara trekking trail. However, the lake further offers a long trekking route. For this, one needs to fly to Jumla from Nepalgunj. The long trek leads through interesting villages of Hindu Thakuri Malla and Tibetan, who influenced tribes with rich customs and traditions. This trek also offers amazing views of high snow-capped mountains.

Visit Bouddhanath, the biggest Buddhist Stupa and the temple of Pashupatinath. The Pashupatinath Temple premises lies at by the bank of the sacred Bagmati river. However, there are several temples, monuments, and idols within the territory of Pashupatinath temple. The main temple of Pashupatinath is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Take your lunch and drive to the airport to catch a flight to Nepalgunj.
Enjoy a scenic flight from Nepalgunj to Talcha. Continue your short trek to Rara Lake through the Rara National Park. Camp out for the night.
Today, you will be exploring Rara lake for the whole day. The lake and surrounding area are often compared with an angle of the earth. Go boating before noon. It is generally windy during the afternoon that makes it risky to go boating. Hike up to Murma Top for the exotic view of Rara Lake. Stay overnight at the Murma top.
After having your breakfast, hike back to Talcha airport. Fly to Nepalgunj and then get a connecting flight to Kathmandu. After checking in your hotel, you can go to Patan Durbar Square for sightseeing.
