Chitwan Wildlife Safari activity is carried out in Chitwan National Park. The national park is situated in south-central Nepal within a 932 sq km area. UNESCO designated Chitwan National Park as a Natural World Heritage site in 1984. Since then it has been the centre of attraction for every national and international visitor.
This national park lies in the sub-tropical lowland of inner Terai. Recently, it has become one of the country’s treasures- a fabulous wildlife sanctuary. The word ‘Chitwan’ signifies as ‘heart of the jungle’.
On this tour, we will get to go on an exciting Jungle Safari. Among the activities available, Elephant and Jeep Safaris are interesting ways to experience the forest from a safe, high vantage point. It also provides a close-up view of a one-horn rhino (in total 645 counted rhinos throughout the country, 605 alone in Chitwan National Park) in its native environment. During our safari, we will observe a variety of deer, langur monkeys, wild boars, and other animals. Furthermore, when walking through the forest and open grassland, we may see around 400 bird species, either as permanent inhabitants or migratory guests.
Similarly, a canoe excursion down the Rapti River provides an excellent opportunity to see a fifth of the world’s surviving gharial populations on the western side. The gharial seeks refuge beneath its banks. It has long been practised to hunt fish-eating crocodiles, which are said to have aphrodisiac properties due to the aphrodisiac attributes of their snout.
Our Chitwan Wildlife Jungle Safari adventure begins with a drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara by vehicle or bus. Chitwan and Kathmandu are also connected by daily aeroplanes. As a result, after any of our Himalayan trekking or peak climbing programs, this is a fantastic opportunity to unwind with a wildlife safari in Chitwan.
