The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek takes 3 days and is appropriate for hikers with limited time. It allows you to see the magnificent snow-capped mountains in a short amount of time. In the Annapurna area, this is a short and reasonably simple hike. We loop through Ghorepani and Ghandruk villages, starting and ending at Nayapul. Local teahouses are a great place to stay. Climbing to the summit of the hill will provide the trip’s finale. It is known for having some of the most breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range. You will also have the opportunity to view the lovely settlements of Gurungs and Magars, as well as breathtaking mountain landscapes.
People who are looking for a short Ghorepani Poonhill trip would like the three-day journey. Starting and ending in Kathmandu adds two more days to the Nepal journey, making it a six-day walk. The walk has some significant obstacles, as we must ascend a stairway of 3300 steps to reach Ghorepani.
Aside from that, there are several rough, uphill trails to be found along the route. However, the difficulties will be worth it if you come across stunning mountain vistas. Annapurna South, Barakisha, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges are seen. A lively scene is created by a near perspective of the Tukuche peak in front of your eyes. You will have a great time on the trip. You’ll never forget the difficult steps and exhaustion you felt as you ascended the stairwell.
We follow the Bhurungdi River east through lowland rice fields and dense woods. Along the way, you’ll observe monkeys playing and a variety of bird species resting in the trees. Then, skirting the traditional settlements, we leave the river and head to the highlands. You will have the opportunity to learn about the Nepali people as well as sample some of the native cuisine.
You will be picked up from your Lakeside hotel by private transportation (car/jeep). Travelers departing from Kathmandu must book the trip as a 5-day Trek. From Kathmandu to Pokhara, there is a tourist coach service available. The Prithwi Highway is a picturesque journey that takes around 6-7 hours. The car/jeep will drop you off at the trailhead the next day to begin trekking. You may also take a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The picturesque flight lasts 20 minutes and allows you to see the uninterrupted mountain range on the right side.
Hiking in the Ghorepani Pooh Hill Trek requires two types of permits. Annapurna Conservation Area Project issues ACAP permit and TAAN issues TIMS Card. Oriental Journeys manages and does the documentation processes to issue permits for you. Their respective check-posts demand to present your entry permits at their offices at the trailheads. We advise you to carry your valid passport and two copies of your passport-size photographs to paste into the permit.
You can customize your itinerary to make it suitable for your holiday. A 13 Days Annapurna Base Camp tour via Ghorepani is a combination of 4 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill trek with ABC Trek. Similarly, you can alter your trekking tour to visit other cultural and more scenic villages of the region. The Annapurna Sunrise View Trek is suitable for travellers with longer vacations. Simply drop your message via a quick inquiry form. Our team will design or suggest the best tailor-made trip.
Trekkers can start the Poon Hill hike from either Ghandruk or Nayapul. Both trailheads are around 2 hours away from Pokhara. Ghorepani Poonhill’s short trip begins in Nayapul and takes 3-5 days to complete. The expedition began with an overnight stay in Tikedhunga or Ulleri. Ghorepani is the starting point for the second day. Finally, a tough early morning climb to the summit of Poon Hill for a spectacular sunrise vista on the third day. You may walk back to Nayapul or down to Tadapani the same day after viewing Poon Hill.
Trekkers may expect a total of 14-15 hours of trekking during the hike. A daily stroll of 4-5 hours is rather easy. The breathtaking mountain vistas and chance interactions with locals add to the allure of this short hiking program.
The walk is classified as an easy hiking location, so hikers will not have to contend with the high altitude. The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek reaches a height of 3,210 meters above sea level. There are almost 350 stone stairs in the initial segment of the walk. It may provide decent knee pressure, however, the second half is a natural and communal route. The Poon Hil offers ideal weather conditions and is accessible all year. The rainy season and the frigid winter, on the other hand, are not suggested. Throughout the year, the route is safe. The route is continuously monitored and maintained by the local and Annapurna Conservation Area Project management committees.
Year-round, the weather in and around Poon Hill is relatively nice. During the winter, though, it gets a little cooler, with snowfall on occasion. The finest times to visit the region are in the spring and autumn. Rhododendron woods in full bloom throughout March and April are a massive attraction. The Autumn and Spring seasons are characterized by clear skies and high visibility. Autumn in Nepal is beautiful and vibrant since it is harvest season.
Summer is hotter than the rest of the year, with more rain. In Nepal, the monsoon provides rain, which affects the entire area. The local roads turn muddy, and the slick track adds to the adventure of walking.
Only when it snows here do the winters get much colder. At other times of the year, the weather is usually lovely. On certain cold days, the lowest temperature reaches -4 degrees. Even the coldest temperatures are bearable in comparison to other hiking destinations.
No doubt! Trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill during the monsoon is a terrific and unique experience as compared to other seasons. The monsoon season brings beautiful greenery, waterfalls, strong rain, and route challenges.
Monsoon weather in Nepal is the rainy season, marked by significant rainfall and high humidity.
Monsoon trekking typically has mild temperatures, with average highs ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius (68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit) in lower-altitude places. We recommend packing waterproof clothing to keep you and your stuff dry. Need to wear strong footwear with caution as trails can be slick and muddy.
The monsoon trek has the advantage of having fewer tourists on the trail, allowing for a more peaceful and relaxing experience. The season is ideal for photography because of the foggy mountains, which provide a stunning picture of the peaks and cloud patterns, as well as vibrant vegetation. Furthermore, local practices during the monsoon season are additional interest along the routes.
We provide the best available lodge accommodation during the 3 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. It includes 2 Nights stay in the tea house lodge on a twin-sharing basis. Rooms are equipped with beds with warm mattresses and blankets. In option, you can carry your own sleeping bag. A hot shower is available in demand and may charge a minimum extra amount. Lodge provides wifi facilities, electricity for light and battery charging facilities.

The scenery is worth the early start. It was difficult yet gratifying to travel with three small children. We strongly suggest taking the trip with your family, as we thoroughly loved the tour with our two children, ages 6 and 8. Aneel is a superb guide.
We visited Pokhara and Kathmandu on a ten-day journey to Nepal including 4 Days tour of Ghorepani Poon Hill. We had a fantastic and unforgettable trekking expedition to Ghorepani, Poon Hill, and Ghandruk. On the summit, we were treated to a spectacular morning vista. We really appreciate the native hiking guide, Subash, and the porter who assisted us during the trip. We enjoyed a safe and delightful ten-day trip thanks to their great advice and information. Thanks to Machhindra in particular. We plan to return to Nepal and experience the magnificent natural environment by participating in another trekking expedition with them.
We hike down and cross the Bhurungdi Khola on a big bridge at 1520m after crossing the Tikhedhunga River on a suspension bridge. Following that, the route ascends a stone stairway with over 3300 steps in total. The stairwell continues to Ulleri, a major Magar settlement (2800m). However, you may drive to Ulleri instead. From Ulleri, the paths gently ascend through grasslands and cultivated fields. This walk leads to a beautiful oak and rhododendron woodland. The path then leads to a route that passes two dazzling clear water streams and a minor ridge before climbing to Nangathanti (2460m). At Nagathanti, we’ll eat lunch. After an hour of walking from Nangathhanti, you will arrive at our goal, Ghorepani (2750m).
